Family Day at the Intellectual School of Kyzylorda was celebrated with a poster contest. Pupils living in the dormitory of the school reflected the main values and traditions of their shanyraks in sincere pictures.

Posters dedicated to family topics turned out to be interesting and convincing, using different techniques. Someone created portraits, others explained the meaning of the word “family” and talked about home traditions through collages. The symbol of almost all the drawings was Shanyrak, personifying the unity of the family.

– Our family is big. The main motto in the house is to help and love each other, – Zhanerke Tanirkul shared and drew a family in the form of a tree.

For Aizhan Aybek, the family is the main wealth:

There is nothing more precious than a strong, friendly and happy family. Namely, the support and care of loved ones, joyful memories make our life better.

The second Sunday of September in Kazakhstan is the Day of the Family, the main social institution for every person.

Autumn is the time when fruits and vegetables ripen. This is the time when “Vibrant colours of autumn” are sparkling on the tables in every house.

Our students had an opportunity to visit a special course on fruit carving organized by parents and dormitory educators and learn how to nicely cut and decorate fruits for celebrations and fancy dinners.

Girls, students of 7 -12 grades, were taught how to prepare beautiful and unusual fruit platters. Students used simple pieces of apples and pears to make beautifully carved compositions, learned basic rules of carving – how to make flowers from oranges, boats from pineapples, dolphins from bananas. They learned about the secrets, rules and techniques of how to create a “wonder” from fruits. The result of their work was assessed by boys.

All participants enjoyed this event. Gils were given an opportunity to practice their new skills on decorating festive dinner table using fruit platters.

These kinds of lessons, based on the specific characteristics of girls and boys, will be held weekly on every Saturday with parents. The main aim is to teach students essential life skills, which will definitely be used by them in the future.
