CIS experts (Council of International Schools) from Armenia and Italy visited  Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Kyzylorda as part of the CIS international accreditation.

Gabriel Abad Fernandez, Principal of the International IB school UWC Dilijan College and Chris Maggio, CIS School Support and Evaluation Officer were welcomed by members of the school community with traditional shashu and bauyrsak, accompanied by a dombra ensemble.

Student self-government activists made a presentation about the school, held a campus tour, during which experts visited nano- and biotechnology classrooms, a winter garden, a library and a dormitory, and also got acquainted with the activities of the NIS Engeneering technology platform. The exhibition of scientific projects presented the inventions of students in the field of agriculture, animal husbandry and solving environmental issues in the region.

A conversation was also held with students, parents and working groups on the implementation of the school’s mission, and with representatives of the domains “Governance, ownership and leadership”, “The curriculum”, “Teaching and assessing for learning”, “Well-being”, “Staffing”, “Premises, facilities, technology systems and auxiliary services”, “Community and home partnerships”,  and “Residential services”.

CIS representatives evaluated the level of organization of the educational process and school life. The experts attended lessons, extra-curricular classes, sports clubs, and took part in a meeting of the “Rukhaniyat” family reading club, attended a master class on spinning on a hand spindle, on patchwork and other types of art. The guests also witnessed a large-scale fair of national treats organized by the parents of the school.

At the end of the visit, the specialists highly appreciated the results of the school’s work and made recommendations for further improvement.

It should be noted that in 2017, NIS of Kyzylorda successfully passed the international CIS accreditation. Council of International Schools is one of the world’s leading organizations established to promote the latest innovations and high standards in the field of education.
