At NIS in Kyzylorda, the school year ends with a domdyra class

Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Kyzylorda joined the large-scale challenge of NIS. At the end of the academic year, within the framework of the project “History of 100 kui”, a demonstration lesson called “The Power of Kui” was held, and national art was celebrated among students.

Since last year, the dombyra lesson has been included in the NIS program as a main subject. 7th grade students have mastered the Kazakh national musical instrument and are learning the technique of playing the tunes. Today, young people strengthened their experience gained throughout the year during a demo class.

The secondary education teacher of the school, well-known musician Ukitay Yerniyazov performed “Aday” by Kurmangazy Sagyrbayuly and explained the technique of drawing, while the instuctor of the dombyra club Zhanibek Turganbay and the teacher-curator Nurzhan Bisenbaev explained the history and meaning of the instrumental play.

“This kui was born during the battle of the Adayans with the Turkmens. A Kazakh hero tied a sheepskin coat to the horse’s tail and dragged it to the ground, causing the dust to rise. Kurmangazy was surprised by the ingenuity and heroism of the Adai tribe and created the kui of “Aday” there. If you listen to the kui “Aday”, you will hear the shouts of brave heroes fighting against the enemy and the sound of horses, says project coordinator Nurzhan Bisenbaev.

During the lesson, students shared their thoughts on introducing the Kazakh kui to the world and increased their knowledge in a quiz game.
