Books Conquer the World

A “Book Surprise” event was held at Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Kyzylorda to mark World Book and Copyright Day.

Students and staff from the school participated in the event hosted by the school library, where they exchanged their favorite books.

“When I was a child, I received ‘Alice in Wonderland’ as a New Year’s gift. It was filled with beautiful illustrations, and I couldn’t put it down—I read the whole thing. Since then, books have become my friends,” shared Zhanna Omarova, a Russian language and literature teacher, thanking the organizers for this interesting project.

There’s a Kazakh proverb that says: “A book is like a golden chest filled with treasures.” The role of books in our lives is invaluable. They teach us to think, express our feelings, and become better, kinder people. Each book holds immense spiritual value for its reader. This special day in world literature brought together students and teachers, boosting their interest in reading.

“People who read a lot have a broader perspective, speak and write more eloquently, and have a wealth of knowledge. We’re glad that every year, more and more students in our school become regular readers. I’m sure the books you received today as gifts will provide you with new insights,” said the school principal, Zhanbyrzhan Bekbolatov.
