As part of the “Continuity of Generations” project, a wonderful meeting was held between students of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Kyzylorda and the ensemble “Ak әzheler”, founded at the rural club Kalzhan Akhun. 

During the event, the grandmothers shared the history of the creation of the musical group and performed patriotic compositions reflecting their love for their native land. The ensemble members also demonstrated the process of preparing national dishes such as ayran, kurt and cottage cheese, and also shared their skills in knitting, spinning wool and patchwork, restoring the forgotten traditions and customs of the Kazakh people. 

“Outstanding personalities such as Abai Kunanbaev and Shokan Ualikhanov were raised by their grandmothers – Zere and Aigan. The role of grandmothers in raising children is invaluable. They carry a special warmth and symbolize wisdom, kindness and mercy. They have enormous life experience, which they are ready to pass on to the next generation,” emphasizes teacher-curator Nurzhan Bisenbaev.
